First Thought Fridays. Week 1.

Hey guys! So every Friday this summer in an attempt to become a better writer I'm going to write a small poem and record/share it with you guys. It will just be about what I have been experiencing that week. Hope you like it. And don't forget to share your thoughts with me! Listen Here

Growing Up Doesn't Have To Suck

From the moment we are born,
the moment we learn to think,
we develop a silly little thing called desire.

We desire to learn,
to think,
to develop,
we begin to wish that the fun in life never ends,
that only the fun days last forever.

We long for the long winter nights,
the sweater weather.
Cuddled up in bed,
watching Netflix with a cup of tea.

Until we get sick of the ice,
and want summer to come back
so we can play rugby,
spend our days laid out in the grass,
doing homework or just acting stupid.

Nothing seems to last forever.
Everything just seems to end too soon.
And suddenly we're older,
friends start to change,
girls obsess over beauty or boys,
everything begins to feel limited.
Just when the doors to universe begin to open.
With one foot out the door,
we are told hat we have to mold our desires into a career.
Into our lives.

And have it remain the same forever.
But desires aren't stable,
they are adaptable,
how can we know what we want now is what we want forever.

But we will be okay,
we'll keep on smiling,
we'll refused to be a ghost with a reflection.
Express ourselves without constraint.
And with our desires
we'll form our own happy ending.
